Jun 5, 2014 10:00 AM in response to petergalesby oneHvT,Many people (and I) have FCE 4.01 working on Mavericks, and some have reported problems. Have you tried to use it? Does it load? What can and can't you do with it?
If it won't load, and you have a Time Machine backup of the former system, i.e. before the upgrade to Mavericks, I would try just copying the FCE package in the Applications folder from the Time Machine to the current system. This has worked for me on several occasions.

Hi I updated my girlfirend's macbook pro to mavericks a few months ago and she just discovered that her Final Cut Express won't work with it.
What does "won't work with it" mean?
Will it not install? Will in not launch?
If it is installed and you are having trouble launching the application, download Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion (free)
http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
and use it to trash your FCE preferences, which may be corrupted by the Mavericks installation.
The FCE preference will be restored to default settings the next time you launce FCE.

Jun 9, 2014 8:58 AM in response to petergalesby petergales,Folks. Thanks very much. To be clear the app won't open at all. The apple problem report window opens up and says on the top
"FCE cannot be opened because of a problem. Check w developer to make FCE works with this version of OSX."
There is of course the details with lots of code underneath that mean nothing to me.
Unfortunately her time machine backups have been corrupted. Will give "Meg the Dog"'s advice a go and report back.
