Jun 5, 2014 10:39 AM in response to Gino Cby Axeman1020,Try booting in Safe Mode:
- Be sure your Mac is shut down.
- Press the power button.
- Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key.
The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone. - Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Check to see if you have the same problem.
Reboot normally and check again.

Jun 5, 2014 10:45 AM in response to Axeman1020by Gino C,Thank you, I was saving that as a last resort on this machine because It has always had problems booting to safe mode.
The last time I did, it would reboot normally thereafter and had to really mess with it to get it goinf again.
I was sure it was because the System is on an SSD and the users are on a RAID.
Anyhow, I guess I have to try.
as an update, it just occured to me tht I said I reset the PRAM but realize that the system didn't let me do it and booted normally.
I'll update
