Q: iPhone 5s touchscreen weird problem

Hello,

 

I'm having a really weird problem with my iPhone 5s touchscreen. Since yesterday, the touch goes crazy whenever I'm using it, and even when I stop touching the screen, it keeps selecting random apps and letters. Nothing happened to the iPhone (it didn't fall on the floor neither into water), it was working perfectly until yesterday.

I've tried the hard reset but it didn't work. Then, I tired to restore it, but it didn't work at all either (I set up as "new iPhone" on iTunes).

It's also strange because when the touch stops working, i lock the screen and unlock it at once (with the sleep button, as the assistiveTouch stops working too), and it returns normal. But after a few minutes of use, it goes crazy again, writing random words, selecting apps, etc. Also, when I have the problem the letter "E" and the number 3 get unusable with the iPhone vertical. When I turn it to horizontal position, these two characters work normally again (and letter "J", which goes to the place in the screen where "E" was works normally too (I suppose it's not a problem in a specific point of the screen).

 

I think it is a software problem, but I'm afraid it can be hardware. Am I right? Can anyone help me? Should I try "DFU"? I just want my iPhone back :(

    I`m facing the exactly same issue regarding the touchscreen functionality.. however mine is a brand new 5s, ios 7.1.1, 32gb and so..

    i`m trying a restore right now to see whether it gets responsive or not...

    i might be looking for a replacement, tho...

    I tried DFU but it didn't work. I think it's a hardware problem. I will try a replacement at apple, hope they change it for me! It will be my 3rd 5s! The first one fell into a swimming pool, and now I got this new problem with the second :(

    i tried to reset and set up as new iphone and dfu. nothing solved. will try a replacement.. can it be an ios 7 bug? i dont think so!

    So, i havent been able to make mine functional either

    Tried everything, since restore to dfu

    I acquired my device in US, a1533... The replacement isnt supported by brazilian Apple, since the model sold here is a1537.. I was told by support that they can only replace models sold where i'm requesting support..

     

    Will have to find a way through this matter, and seek for friends going to america in a real soon future...

     

     

    All i can say by now is that i feel really unexcited with all of this, whatsoever...

    I havent completed a week since i bought it.. It happens :(

    i'm also brazilian and they really dont replace a1533 in brazil at all. i'm trying to send my iphone to US too!

    sometimes it works perfectly, others the bug makes the touch unusuable

    If you have applied a screen protector to your touchscreen (or even if you haven't) this may simply be a matter of cleaning the screen all the way out to the edges. Use an actual cleaning set (spray (NOT Windex) and lint free cloth) for eyeglasses to do this. Spray the cloth NOT the screen. Carefully wipe around the edges and down in one direction in the middle. Try to make sure you have removed smears and or greasy finger prints. This process needs to be done at least once a month or more often if the problem recurs.

    I also have this problem. My first 5s would drop calls all the time like 99% of the time. It would go into searching mode when I have 4 bars. Then two days ago I get a replacement from the apple store and low and behold, the dropped calls stopped, I updated the software like it said to and now my phone has a poltergeist  and does it's own thing. I can't make a call, answer a call, hang up, select an app because it is doing it for me and is doing who knows what. I did however use my wife's phone to record my phone going crazy so that way the store can't say i am making this up.

    I have this same bug on an original iPhone 5, and from around June this year or so also. It appears to occur in the area of extra screen that the previous generations did not have (ie in portrait in points 481-568 in the y axis only. It's especially maddening when I receive a phone call and cannot 'swipe right to answer'. I frequently have to let the call ring out, reboot my phone and then return the call.

     

    suspect a bug in UIResponder, UIWindow or UIScreen where some event triggers the device 'forgetting' those extra pixels and reverting to some code from back in the 320x480 only days...

    still with this fu**ing intermittent issue. will try a replacement.
