Thank you guys for replying,

James, to tell the truth, it's my major concern. It might help if you can go directly to presentation. But anyway, presentation mode is not good if you want to look through the content or jump a certain slide.

quinn, that's interesting but I couldn't do it. The paintbrush menu didn't show up when only a table is selected. It does when a cell or a range is selected but I couldn't find a lock option anyway.

quinn,

I'm using the same versions. I found out what you mean. I could lock it when I selected an object item like a picture. I could go back and forth, i.e. lock and unlock even on iOS. But the worksheet in Numbers is not an object and you can't lock worksheet. Anyway, this helps me a lot because most of the things in Keynote seems to be objects.

For what it's worth, I checked how it goes when I lock the file on Mac and open it on iOS. While the file lock works perfectly on Mac, iOS ignores it and unlock the file automatically. I tried this when the file lock was released in a recent update (forgot when) and knew it. I just checked if there was any improvement.

ElMagoElGato,

I am glad to give some help but I am still confused because we are having different experiences. I have been able to lock Tables on my mac and have that lock respected in iOS for a long while now. Easy to unlock, impossible to relock. With the most recent upgrade I can lock tables after tapping the upper left dot to select the whole table and going to "arrange" in the paintbrush.

When you say worksheet are you meaning the entire file? When you say file lock are you meaning password protection? You can see I am confused.

You can lock a table in Numbers for iOS, using the format (paintbrush) icon. You cannot lock a sheet however. But the table and the sheet in numbers are somewhat independant entities.

  1. Tap on the upper left handle on the Table. It show the blue handles on at least the bottom and right side of the table.
  2. Tap on the format icon
  3. Tap Arrange from the tab menu
  4. Tap Lock

NOTE: The foundation page of the sheet will move if you drag it, but the table itself will remain in its relative position.

Elements on a Keynote page can basically be locked the same way.

Based on what ElMagoElGato has described, password protecting would be of no value to him. Once the file is accessed, it is in edit mode. Unless I'm really missing something.

Files I have imported from Mac iworks apps with elements locked stay locked for me in iOS. Not sure what the problem is.

James, quinn,

Thank you guys for further helping. I didn't notice I should tap the upper left dot/handle. Now I can lock a table on iOS. I meant table by worksheet above. So my wish on locking is almost satisfied now.

In terms of file lock, it's a feature added to iWork on Mac a while ago. You can see a down arrow on the right of file name at the top of window after you open a file. Click on the arrow and you'll see a check box to lock the file. A locked file warns you as soon as you make a change. Maybe it's annoying if you're warned every time.
