Watching TV on iMac?

I know there is a device called Convert PVR by plextor, but it says it can make your mac record TV programs.

The issue is that we already have Tivo from Directv which records programs and my question is has anyone figured out a way to link their TIVO's right to the Mac so that you can watch tivo tv on your macs????

thanks.

Hi,

basically, if you buy something from elgato. ( I suggest the eyetv hybrid it's cheaper, smaller, and has good features.) Your mac will be just like a tv. that's it.period. You put the device in your usb port, and hook your tivo box to it with s-video or component cables. Sure you can record video with your mac with the elgato software, but don't expect to point your remote at the mac/tivo reciever and think the IMAC will be programed to record video. Your box will still record video and play it on your imac's screen though.

I've used the Elgato 310 for Satelite and it works great on my G5. Scheduled recordings is no problem as long as you don't want to look at something else. I have now ordered a iMac 24" with the Elgato EYETV Diversity for digital tv (not satelite) which will provide the option of record one program while watching the other if I understand correctly.

Cheers
