I cannot copy my iTunes library from my external harddrive to my new Windows 8 laptop. I have copied my iTunes library from my external hard drive to the iTunes music folder on the laptop, but music will not appear in iTunes. I can "add file to library" for each individual album but that will take forever. Any ideas?

Add the folder instead of the individual files.
File > Add File/Folder to iTunes
Thank you for your response. However, there is no option, under file, to add folder to the library, only filles.
Use CTRL+B to enable the menu bar, then you can use File > Add Folder to Library.
However with luck you copied the entire iTunes folder from the old computer onto your external drive which you can then copy as a whole into <User's Music> so that you have your original library with all the ratings, play counts, playlists etc. that won't be there if you import the media into a new library.
