Q: Trackpad stops working after 1h of use, starts working again after 30min break
I'm using a MBP, Mid 2012 with OSX 10.9.3. A few days ago my trackpad started acting weird. Clicking is fine, but the cursor will jump all over the screen, gestures when I'm not trying to gesture, and won't gesture when I am trying to gesture. I stopped using my laptop after this happened, and a few days later when I came back to it, everything seemed normal. The laptop was not being charged at the time.
After an hour of use, the problem came back. I switched to a USB mouse and the issues were gone. After about 30 minutes I tried using the trackpad again and it's working again. It seems like after normal use of the trackpad it'll stop working after awhile, and if I give it a break it'll go back to normal.
Is this a software issue? I didn't update my OS until mid-May, but I would have thought I'd have seen this issue before now if it was caused by an update. I don't think the trackpad has been damaged at all recently, at least not to my knowledge. All the trackpad issues that I've seen on the forums so far have been related to battery issues or coupled with clicking problems, or seem to go away if it's unplugged from the charger, but I haven't seen any of those similarities in my problem.
