Q: All my music has disappeared even though it was all there last week. Most songs show an exclamation mark next to them. How do I fix this? Or is there a way that I can restore my iTunes back to how it was?

Cant find missing music. Is there any way of restoring itunes back to how it was?

The ! indicates the files are not where iTunes expects them to be.

Are the files still physically on the computer?

Were they possibly moved?  If so, put them back where there were initially.

The fact they played fine last week means nothing.

Look on the computer using Windows Explorer in the location where the files are supposed to be.

    About the iTunes library files

Your iTunes library files track the media you add to iTunes, how you've organized it, and other information such as playlists. By default, these two files are in your iTunes folder:

    • Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
    • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    • Windows Vista: C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
    • Windows 7: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\
    • Windows 8: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\

    About the iTunes Media folder

Note: You may have an iTunes Music folder instead of an iTunes Media folder.

If the content has been moved, then yes, it will need to be moved back.

If it has been deleted, it will either need to be restored from the backup or downloaded again.
