Apple Computer.ipod IEEE 1394 SBP2 device

has anyone overcome this prob. Device manager under drives has a drive with a yellow exclamation mark. (usually means update driver)

I have latest itunes and ipod software. My doc connector (firewire) goes fine with a G4 ipod, but not my G3. so my firewire is compatible.

Because the ipod isnt being picked up by windows properly i cant restore my ipod.
