scottishshaman,
which model MacBook Pro do you have, and which version of OS X is installed on it?
I have a 2012 Macbook pro running the latest version of Mavericks. I know I my startup disk was **** close to full which is why I was going into fix. Any suggestions?
scottishshaman,
since you have Mavericks installed, you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the Mac OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it reach the login screen now?
Thank you so so very much for your time and help. I am right in the middle of Hockey Playoffs and had a project in the works. Thank you thank you thank you. I hope I can return the favor one day.
Blessed be,
Duncan
scottishshaman,
if you’re not already doing so, you can return the favor by purchasing an external drive for use as a Time Machine backup destination, and making regular backups of your MacBook Pro, so that a disk problem won’t destroy your only copy of your personal data.
