Why do iBooks seem to be more expensive than Kindle books? A book in the iBooks Store is $10.99, and the same book is $9.73 in Amazon. Shouldn't they be priced the same? Not sure why anyone would buy a more expensive iBook, when the Kindle software is as good, or perhaps better. Any ideas about why this pricing variance?

It's the publisher (and not Apple) which sets the price of books in the iBookstore. If prices are higher there, I guess it must be because the publisher sees no disadvantage in doing so.
I also have no idea why someone would spend more for the same book, but have run into users who seem to be so attached to iBooks that they would probably do it.
Thanks Tom. So the publisher sets the price for each store? That seems odd. Why would they set them differently? Perhaps Apple has a higher markup, which accounts for the difference. Doesn't seem like a good way to do business though, especially if you're in second place in the book selling market.

Apple is the only one I know about. Some other unnamed store might sell lower, even llose money, with the aim of expanding their market share :-)
