I'm having issues with iTunes. Please Help!

I had an iPhone 4s and two iTunes upgrades before I couldn't transfer music. I thought with the new version it might fix it but it didn't. Now I just got an iPhone 5s and it still won't show up in iTunes and it is driving me crazy. Please let me know what I need to do to get this fixed.
