Using the EXS 24 for importing samples.

Hi,

I am currently in the process of putting some sample CD's into the sampler instruments folders in logic. These samples then show up in the EXS24 sampler instruments dropdown menu. When i open one of these the samples of say a drum loop are mapped to each key in the matrix editor. All of these sample formats are REX by the way.

Is it possible to do this with AIFF samples? I have a load of sample CD's that have just AIFF formats. When i have dragged them into the smpler instruments folder they do not show up in the drop down menu in the EXS24. Is it possible to get them to appear as instruments?
Any ideas?

Cheers

John

Recycle files are imported, and the EXS24 basically reads them, and generates the WAV files and Sampler Instrument files from them.

Raw audio files have no instrument data at all - they are just one audio recording.

To create a sampler instrument that plays audio files mapped across the keyboard, open the EXS editor, create a new sampler instrument, and import your audio files into that instrument. Save the result to your Sampler Instruments directory.

If you have a lot of samples it will take some time...

Answer: yes, logic can import aiff files with a fair bit of precision in the sample; if you want to create them you should get a spectral picture of some waveform samples to copy so you get a good solid sound.

[ too bad the mod locked that great thread I had on this subject, now maybe the mod can tell exactly what that spectrum waveform should be...oh don't they know how to create a good trigger gate sample]...?

Write again if you want advice on creating samples, good luck John.
