It's a manufacturing defect. There have been many reports of the stand breaking recently in these forums. It's been mostly with relatively new iMacs that would still be under warranty. Do what rkaufmann87 suggests and get to an Apple store ASAP.

iOS does not run on iMacs.

If your machine is under a year old or purchased AppleCare within that first year, and you haven't bumped into it at all, you may have a case for a warranty repair. This is a user to user forum, so we can't say for certain.

Mine just did this too. I was sitting at the computer and all of a sudden there was a loud pop and the screen tilted downward on its own. It won't stay up, sounded like a spring popping loose or something.
