Q: How to pair iphone 5c to imac. Will not work?

My samsunfg phone will pair to my imac but my iphone 5c will not.

Any suggestions please.

iMac, iOS 7.1.1

    The Bluetooth version used with iOS devices does not have pairing with a computer as an acceptable protocol so you cannot pair to your iMac.

    Many thanks. I also cannot get it to pair with my samsung phone. it does not discover it. nor does the samsung discover the iphone. is this the same thing as the computer.

    You are very welcome...and yes, that is the same problem.  The only "pairing" that would work would be setting up a personal hotspot so one was acting as a router for the other.  But that is not likely what you really want to have happen.

    Hi Ralph,

    Not your fault, but I am frustrated with Apple for not having a way to make this work.  Doesn't it just seem like all Apple devices should play nicely together?  I want my phone to pair with my iMac so that I can click the dropdown next to phone numbers and choose to dial my contact's phone numbers on the screen without having to type them in my phone.    The number shows on the iphone and the call then is handled on my iphone.  I have had this capability before using PushDialer (which I can't get to work now either).  Is there another way to do this?
