Is there an intermediate version of iTunes available for download that would communicate w/store and be supported by 10.4.11?

Current version of iTunes online is for 10.6.8 and up. Is there a version of iTunes that is readable by both the 10.4.11 and current iTunes store (fingers crossed)? My current version of iTunes is 4.9, inciting groans from the tech support guy . . .

Click here, or here if you're using a G3. iTunes 9.2.1 is the last version compatible with 10.4.11.
