Fairly much the same as you'd make a slideshow on a DVD.
You'd have to use software and decide the length of the project
and how much storage capacity the image and audio portions
of each will take, and then consider the limits of the software
chosen to make the project.
See the topic list to the left of this discussion column, as links
to other ASC discussions are there. A few have a fair degree
of information; some unique points across two or three are
helpful if combined with additional knowledge or ideas.
You could use iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD, and other software, then
assemble the project so it has any fade-in, or fade-out effects
and other touches, if desired. iPhoto can be used to make a
QuickTime movie, that could be exported or copied to a Flash
USB drive or other component device.
If you were going to make such an item so you could later upload
to YouTube, there may be other considerations. You can use the
Export option in, say iPhoto, to save a file to another location.
And most of this topic including more exacting reply does depend
on the OS X version and hardware, plus any other software you
may have used or plan to try & use on the project.
The rest is speculative. The USB (flash?) drive should be of
sufficient capacity to have working room for the project, so
it should not be a tight fit or the files may not work correctly.
Here's an example of an ASC discussion topic:

So perhaps this may be of some help.
Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
export the slideshow from iPhtoo and drag the exported QuickTime Movie to the mounted, unlocked USB drive - it can be played by any system with QuictTime which is a free download
