Why do I only get "Error Performing Search" when clicking on any item seen in my Twitter Bar

The Twitter bar on the latest Safari keeps offering up hashtagged tweets, but if I click on them, or attempt to use the search window, a Safari alert comes up with Error Performing Search; a Twitter window opens on the left of Safari, but only shows the spinning ball. Have I failed to connect my Twitter with Safari? Is this one of those things that just happens on some machines, and not others? Am I dreaming this?
