I have iTunes 10.6 on my old iMac. Can I upgrade to iTunes 11.1, if I'm running OS X 10.5?

I recently purchased an iPad, and I want to sync (or share) my iMac PPC iTunes music with it. I have been informed that I need iTunes v. 11.1 in order to do this. I am running iTunes v. 10.6, as it was the original version. Can I upgrade my iTunes, even though my OS is 10.5.8--just about the max for this old machine? If not, is there an iCloud solution of some kind?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

iTunes 10.6.3 is the last version of iTunes to support Mac computers with Mac OS X 10.5.8 or PowerPC processors.

iTunes 10.6.3 download:

All later versions require a newer version of OS X and an Intel based Mac.
