Save webarchive page as Pages file?

I know I can save webarchive pages as pdf files but is there a way to save them as Numbers or Pages files? PDF won't work in this case because I need to be able to change the figures as and when needed.

I tried cutting and pasting from the webarchive page into a Numbers spreadsheet but it didn't copy the formatting so all the columns ended up as lines.

Thanx.

Jane,

A .webarchive follows HTML/CSS formatting rules that do not lend themselves to polite conversion, or copy/paste into Pages or Numbers documents. Guess you found that out.

There is a UNIX utility in OS X named textutil. It will take a .webarchive as input and output it in your choice of text, .doc, .docx which are formats you can get into Pages.

In the Finder, press shift+command+u and then double-click the Terminal application. The Terminal will open to your login directory. The syntax that you would enter is as follows, with the variable being your .webarchive file name. I use test.webarchive for brevity. Hyperlinks will not be preserved using textutil. The output file, in this example, will be test.docx.

textutil -convert docx test.webarchive

When done, just quit the Terminal.
