Q: Match process stalling out at end

I've been using iTunes Match for about a year and a half and have started experiencing a new problem in the last couple of days.  I've added a few new tracks to my library over the last couple of days and have attempted to "Update iTunes Match." However, the matching process is stalling out at the end.  It looks like it's just about to finish but then it never does.  I have downloaded the most up-to-date version of iTunes, I have stopped and restarted the "Update iTunes Match" process numerous times.  I have closed and reopened iTunes several times.  I have restarted my computer and started over.  Etc. Etc. and the same problem keeps occurring.  Last night, I let the matching process continue overnight and it still had not finished in the morning.  I am at my wit's end at this point.  It's only 11 new songs that I'm trying to get iTunes to Match.  Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to resolve this problem?  Thanks!

    Hi Ryan.

Just to chime in on this thread.

I also have 3 mac computers - and cannot upload match tracks on any.

I've also tried on different networks / ISP's - so I feel confident that there is nothing that I can do to resolve this on my end.

The odd question is why is this happening to just a small segment of users? I mean the iTunes Match status page shows all green and volume of complains here is relatively low considering the total userbase.

It must be something specific to our case - which who can even imagine given all the possibilities - however I do have 16K tracks (about 98GB stored in cloud) and have been a match user since the beginning. Perhaps this is only affecting users with higher track counts?

Hi bst71.  Thanks for your input.  I don't post in here often enough to know what the typical volume of complaints on a universal issue might be.  I do see that 8 people have clicked on my original post saying they're having the same issue.  Plus, several more people have specifically posted in this thread saying they're having the same issue.  This issue would seemingly only occur with people who are uploading tracks from sources outside the iTunes store.  For people who obtain new music solely from the iTunes store, I would anticipate that this issue would not impact them.

Here is an updated screen shot of iTunes on my primary computer.  The good news is "iCloud Status" reappeared as a view option for me in the last hour or so, so maybe that is a positive sign.  As a test, I downloaded the free single of the week from the iTunes store and, as expected, it does not join the other 11 tracks in a state of limbo.Untitled.gif

Having the same issue.  I also have been a Match user from day one.  I have been having issues for more than a couple of days for sure.  And I can somewhat confirm the issue of "purchased content" / "not purchased content..."

I bought a new release on iTunes this week.  Those songs show up everywhere I would expect them too.  I also bought a physical CD of the same album as it had two bonus tracks that the iTunes Store version did not have. I have spend the better part of the last 2 days trying to get those two songs to upload to the cloud.  On the iTunes Match screen I am stuck on Step 2 with 26278 of 26280 songs checked - the two I am assuming are the two that I am trying to add.

On the machine that I am not trying to add the songs to, the two songs appear but are grayed out.  Same is true on my iOS devices as well.    And I have tried at home and at work with my home machine and work machine and enabled and disabled all the features discussed in this thread to no avail.  It is almost like it "almost" makes it up to the cloud but not quite based on the grayed out listings on my other devices / computers.

In any event, Match is pretty much unusable now.

Hi there, I am having the same problem with iTunes Match just stalling on the stage 2 and not actually uploading my tracks to the cloud. Please let me know if there is a solution :) thanks

    Same problem here.

Chatted with an Apple Tech who (after a series of attempted fixes) came to the conclusion it "may be on the server side".  I referred him to these boards.  Apparently we should be going to that Product Feedback in order to get things moving on their end, according to him..........that doesn't sound right.

Thanks scr21.  Your experience sounds very similar to mine except that my problems really just started a couple of days ago.  By the way, how did you get 26,278 songs in the cloud?  I thought they would cut you off at 25,000.

    Thanks for reporting dtsguy.

I just went to "Product Feedback" page located here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html and submitted feedback.

Unfortunately they don't have a specific sub-category for "Match" so I just chose "Other" (I find it odd that they would have Genius as a sub-category and no Match).

    You're welcome.

Isn't that great that we have to all go to this blind feedback email to complain even though I clearly pointed out the growing problem on these posts..........

@ Jimzgoldfinch: Thanks for your post.  Although others may have already tried what you suggested without success, I have not specifically tried it.  I wanted to clarify though where the "option" key is.  Is this a Mac key?  I have a PC and I'm not aware of nor do I see an "option" key on my keyboard.

The 25000 limit applies to non-Itunes Store content. I have stuff that I bought on the store that does not count against the 25000 songs you are referring to.  Only songs labeled as "Matched" or "Uploaded" counts toward the 25000.

I'm having the same exact problem here too.

I've tried all the obvious problem solving, with no solution.

Seems to be acting strange since I updated to the latest Itunes.

    Hello Apple, fix it.

Same issue here, stuck on step 2 Hangs on "17650 of 17651 songs checked". Pretty frustrating. I submitted feedback as well.
