kernel panic

a kernel panic happened when i tried to shut down. I had been online, nothing unusual. yesterday i installed some software; maybe that's the problem--reinstalled real player, installed adobe reader, shockwave (with browser in rosetta mode), flashplayer. macbook pro, 10.4.7. here's a copy of the panic.log:

Hi, jayreek. Welcome to the Discussions.

The following line indicates the panic was caused by a Page Fault:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x0019CADF): Unresolved kernel trap (CPU 0, Type 14=page fault)...

A common fault type, a Page Fault indicates the processor could not access either data memory or the next instruction to be executed. Potential causes include RAM problems, hard disk corruption, and programming errors.

See my "Resolving Kernel Panics" FAQ. This FAQ includes step-by-step instructions for identifying and resolving some of the most common causes of kernel panics.

My FAQ is a roadmap: start at the beginning and work through to the end, following the instruction in the order specified, including the "If all else fails..." section if a cause or resolution is not found in an earlier troubleshooting step therein.

Good luck!
