Ok thanks for the reply, a pity that the iPhone cannot do it. Hopefully in IOS 8 they could make this feature available - to block "No Caller ID" calls specifically.

My carrier says that they cannot block it.

The reason that I need this feature, is due to a nusiance caller from an unknown source, who calls me and then immediately hangs up when I start speaking, or when a sound is detected. This has been going on for about 2 months now.

There seem to be many call-block apps, but I dont trust them. Could you recommend a trustworthy one?

Thanks

Only your carrier can do that. Contact them. Most wireless carriers don't provide this service.

Uhm, actually if your carrier is in the US your carrier is forbidden from genreically blocking no id calls. they can only block specifc numbers you request, whcih is a catch 22 sicne you don;t know the nubmer.

It can easily be done on Andriod and WM phones through a variety of apps. Only Apple nixes apps that would reject or even silence these calls, you have to jailbrake the phone to get an effective app on iiphone

For some reason Apple with ios 7 also stopped parsing "blocked", where the caller is purposly blocking you fro seeing their ID, v the "no caller ID, which is more often an international call that is not successuflly showing Id, so now you can't even tell when callers who are activly blocking display are the ones calling.

I have been getting an increasing numbe rof these calls despite being on the do not call list. A lot of thse spammers can contract with any company you have a relationship with to get your number and effectivley skirt do not call regulations.

If this is an issue your solution is to go android

Umm, actually anonymous call rejection is not "forbidden" at all, just not supported by GSM and CDMA standards. There would be no way to enable or disable this feature from the phone. There are reportecly some carriers outside the USA which can provide ACR on a subscription basis.

No. It is supportable. In fact the carriers will not do it for legal reasons arising from several regulations. The problem the regulations don't allow for imprecise blocking.

And these threads very often have the bad advice of "get your carrier to do it" when that is a red herring, it is only effectively done on the client end, and every client except apple clients can do this quite well.

Nonsense. There are no FCC rules or "guidelines" banning anonymous call rejection, It's been available from land line carriers for over 30 years, (usually included with CID service). There are no special rules regarding this for wireless carriers.

More nonsense. The androgyny apps aren't true ACR - they can block all non-contacts or blacklisted numbers only.

You were already asked to provide documentation, not vacuous claims.
