How to fix Safari high latency (ping)?

For instance, running the test in SpeedTest

http://www.speedtest.net

the latency is as follows on a symmetrical 200 Mbps Fiber To The Home (FTTH) line on Mac with OS X 10.9.3 (Mavericks):

Apple Safari 7.0.4: 32 ms

Google Chrome 35.0.1916.114: 6 ms

Is it possible to reduce the Safari latency?
