User renaming on MacBook Air

I would like to change the document properties on my MacBook Air from - Users/<olduser>/Documents/<document name> to Users/<myname>/Documents/<document name>

I have changed the computer name successfully in preferences/sharing, but cannot find a way to do the above. Any suggestions?

Here are Apple's instructions on changing the short name. Be sure to back up your computer before performing this step in case it goes awry. Since the short name is how OS X finds your Library folder, if you mess this up your computer will not behave.
