Formatting first-paragraph indent in Pages for iPad

It is a matter of precision in what you are touching (you only want to drag the rectangular handle and not touch the triangle). A bit awkward in design in my opinion, but it does work.

I've found a stylus sometimes helps.

You can tap and hold down on the ruler at the top in order to place a tab in a document, then place the cursor before the first word in a paragraph, and tap on the Tab button in the upper left part of the keyboard.

This works in the latest version of Pages. I don't know which version you are running.

My problem is that I need to indent precisely for documents that will be saved as Word .docx files. I can't believe that Pages for iPad apparently relegates this important feature solely by sliding and not allowing us to open a window and set the indents numerically.

If it's any consolation, Word for iPad seems just as bad. :-)

Since Word for iPad requires an Office 365 subscription, I would say worse 😝.

Honestly, it take a little practice. another option might be to start with a different template that includes paragraph indentions. A couple of the built-in templates do, and there are other savailable in the app store.
