Q: Cannot erase disk and/or erase partition
I have an iMac running Mavericks (last version) and I want to format its HD. I've booted pressing Command-R to access disk utility and erase my Mac disk, but when I try appears an error saying "Cannot Unmount the disk". The same error occurs when I try to erase the partition that I was using with Windows.
I've tried to create a Mavericks bootable disk using a 32GB pen drive. I restart pressing Command-R to access the Install OS X option, and when the installation begins I choose my pen drive as the target. The installation begins normally but when its remaing about 13 minutes to complete, the bar stops and it remains in that positon for more than an hour. I've tried two times, but unfortunately I could not suceed.
As an option I tried to use a DVD with the Snow Leopard version 10.6, but when I try to boot with this DVD, suddenly appears a bunch of text in the upper left of the screen; something like the following:
panic(cpu0caller 0x55e3a459): "Unsupported CPU family = 0x6, model = 0x2a, stepping = 0x7" 0 /SourceCache/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement -90/PmProcessor.c:210 Debbuger called: <panic>..... etc, etc, etc
And in the middle of the screen appears a message saying:
YOU NEED TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON UNTIL IT TURNS OFF, THEN PRESS THE POWER BUTTON AGAIN.
I zapped the PRAM, checked the disk and permissons, and everything is OK.
I cannot figure out what's happening? I want to format my iMac drive and install Mavericks again.
