Installing Quicktime 7

I'm running Windows XP, and I'm trying to install Quicktime 7.1. I downloaded it from the Apple website. When I go to install it, the installer comes up, i select English as my language, and it begins to extract files... but it only gets so far, and then it closes by itself. Also, when I go to my Add or Remove programs list, Quicktime is there, but if I click remove, it says the file could not be found.
