Q: My mid 2011 Mac Air runs slow when watching videos?

Hi any help would be useful. My 2011 mac air started running slow and heating up when watching videos ever since i upgraded my osx. I've tried downgrading and it didn't fix the problem. I went to apple and they replaced my logic board and fan, problem still isn't solved =\

What are you using to watch videos? Safari? iTunes?

Does your MBA work normally when not watching videos?

That MBA with only 2 GB memory is very limited in its ability to stream videos over the Internet. It is constantly swapping large amounts of data between RAM and flash memory, which is also quite limited.

Given those limitations, it is probably working as best as it can possibly work.

I suppose herdware failures were solved by Apple.

I don't see any horrible sofwares.

2GB of Ram is low (I agree with John), but there is also much to low free disk space. Since you have more than 10GB page-outs (to an almost fulll disk) i am surprised that you can do anything at all.

    How to solve this dilemma?

I propose to see what files you can delete from the harddrive (user files, do not use cleaning apps), any movies or that sort of files4-5GB will do wonders.

Then i propose to completely delete Logmein, unless you do really need it. There is a free version Teamviewer that does the same as Logmein, but takes less resources from the system (and has a bit less screen color on the client).

Furthermore I would upgrade to Mavericks, since Mavericks is much better in Ram handling (after you have made space free on the disk). Make backups, backups, before and after.
