It sounds like you have both devices set to use the same 'can be reached at' number or email. Change one of them. Settings > Facetime

Hi Pogstar & thanks for your assistanve but I'm still having issues

on the iPad in FT settings  I have the 'you can be reached by' set to my email address BUT on the iPhone the telephone number is ticked & greyed out ie I can't untick it

I've just had another FaceTime come through & both the phone & the ipad ring but when I answer on the ipad it says connection lost & disconnects but it allows me to answer a FT call on the phone

On your phone is only your phone no. ticked? i.e. no other email addresses ticked? Similarly only one email address ticked on the ipad. Also shut off and restart both devices after making any changes.

I had a similar problem awhile back and if I recall correctly I changed the email address to a new different address on the ipad and made sure only my phone no. was ticked on the phone.
