Phonetic typing tools or apps for hindi typing in OSX?

I need to type in hindi on my Mac. I already tried using the QWERTY Devanagari option but the keyboard has a lot of alt+shift+(another alphabet) combinations that hurt my fingers in the long run. It also requires me to press shift key for quite a lot more time.

I was previously using the google input tools for windows http://www.google.co.in/inputtools/windows/. I haven't been able to find any other application that could be run on Mac. Please help if you know of any app...or if there is any way to make typing simpler using the qwerty devanagari.
