Q: Photos

ok so im feeling rather confused.

1: ive purchased additional icloud storeage, what exactly is this for?

2: i need to make room on my phone, if i delete photos on my phone will they be deleted off icloud as well?

3: ive imported my pictures to iphoto so i assumse that they are now a local copy?

The storage you purchase with your iCloud account is available for use for backups, documents and mail. See this article -

Deleting a picture from your Camera Roll does not remove it from your Photo Stream. New photos are saved for 30 days. See this article -
