iTunes Transfer to Memory Stick

I just purchased a car stereo with a USB slot for a memory stick. Is there a way to transfer iTunes songs I have purchased onto the memory stick to use in my car stereo? I tried it once and it appeared the songs had transferred, but when I loaded the memory stick into the car stereo it said NO FILE.
