Can WDS connect PwrMacG4 to Internet via PwrBkG4 and VZW PCMCIA Card?

Only broadband internet access is via Verizon Wireless card in PCMCIA slot of PwrBkG4. Have Airport Extreme for main base station (PwrBk) and Airport Express for remote base station (PwrMac). Can't configure software to make WDS work. (When Internet Sharing is turned on, Apple Network shuts down.) Airport software doesn't seem to provide for initial wireless internet access via PCMCIA card. Expects ethernet, cable or dialup modem connection. (Apple Tech Support declines to respond due to use of non-Apple PCMCIA card.) Is there a work-around?

If I understand correctly, your PowerBook G4 is configured to share internet connection from PCMCIA card to Ethernet.

The PowerBook G4's Ethernet port should be connected to the WAN port on the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).

Once configured like that, the AEBS will treat the connection like any other Internet connection.

I suspected that I might have to use a wired Ethernet connection rather than WiFi through Airport Extreme to Airport Express. Is that your conclusion?

No

If your connection is like this:

Internet<-> [PCMCIA] PowerBook G4 [Ethernet]<-> [WAN] AEBS

You should be able use WDS to wirelessly connect your AEBS to your AX.
