Just downloaded Mavericks

In order to download Mavericks, I had to first add memory to my older iMac. Everything went well except now when I go to my email it is different. That part is Ok, but on my old version I had several "folders" (not smart mailboxes). One folder for each of my kids so when I received an email with a picture I just saved it in that kids folder. I also had a travel folder where I could save emails regarding upcoming trips. i.e> flight confirmations etc. None of the folders transfered over. Only my comcast mailbox and my cloud mailbox. How do I find my missing folders?
