Bootcamp disappeared after resize OSX

Hi all,

First of all my English is not very good, but I've tried to fix my problem with things I find in the forum but I get a little complicated. So I come to ask for help with this. I'm not the first person to resize your MacOSX to give more space to Bootcamp. So I did it once with Winxtool and all was well. Then I needed more space so I went back to reduce space and MacOSX has disappeared boot my Bootcamp and MacOSX recognizes neither. I need to access the information that I have in the Bootcamp. It is vital for me, since I have many projects and have not backed off that partition.

You can not resize partiotions on a drive containing a Boot Camp partition unless you use CampTune.

If you are booted in MAC OS X, can you see a volume called Bootcamp (or Windows) in MAC OS X Finder?

Can you take a look at this link? It uses GPT fdisk.

You will need to download GPT fdisk, and create a Hybrid MBR as shown in that thread. Then check Finder to see if Bootcamp is visible.

If that does not work, Testdisk is the last option.

If you see any errors during the following sequence, please do not proceed further.

sudo gdisk /dev/rdisk0

r <--- Recovery and Transformation Menu

h <--- Create a Hybrid MBR

WARNING! Hybrid MBRs are flaky and dangerous! If you decide not to use one,

just hit the Enter key at the below prompt and your MBR partition table will

be untouched.

Type from one to three GPT partition numbers, separated by spaces, to be

added to the hybrid MBR, in sequence: 2 3 4

Place EFI GPT (0xEE) partition first in MBR (good for GRUB)? (Y/N): Y

Creating entry for GPT partition #2 (MBR partition #2)

Enter an MBR hex code (default EF): AF

Set the bootable flag? (Y/N): N

Creating entry for GPT partition #3 (MBR partition #3)

Enter an MBR hex code (default AF): AB

Set the bootable flag? (Y/N): N

Creating entry for GPT partition #4 (MBR partition #4)

Enter an MBR hex code (default 07): 07

Set the bootable flag? (Y/N): Y

w <-- Write the Hybrid MBR to disk.

Now please run sudo fdisk /dev/rdisk0 again and post the output.

Nothing appears in the bootcamp finder. Same as on the boot but it say "Missed operation"

MAC OS X expects a NTFS file system starting at 820525056 so it can mount it readonly. You will need to use Testdisk and locate the correct missing partition and recreate the Hybrid MBR.

Testdisk can let you create disk images, which may be one option. If Testdisk will show the lost partition, and the MBR can be fixed, it is possible that a Windows Recovery may work.

You will need to go to the directory where the testdisk binary is and use sudo testdisk to start it.

IMHO this has become far too complex for an average user. Just do an erase, format, and reinstall. Make backups in the future. Save often and backup frequently.
