Q: I have a MAC OSX 10.9.3 which I want to connect to my Denon Ceol  Picolo via Airplay.

When you go into Itunes the Airplay symbol is not displayed

My Ipad works perfectly well with the Denon system so it can't be an incompatibility issue

When i check set up it offers no alternative than the computer speakers

I have also downloaded Airfoil as an alternative medium that also only recognises the Computer speakers.

Any suggestions i use a BT Infinity Wifi network

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), iOS 7.0.3

    Check out this link

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4437

Your iMac should support Airplay, being a recent model, so it is strange that your iTunes does not have the Airplay symbol. Also, check your Network in System Preferences.

I have checked my network settings seems ok did the diagnostic which confirmed it was working fine. I'm no techo but does the IPv6  need to be  shown as Automatic, manual, link locally . Also I have the DNS server IP for the Denon should that be shown in the  DNS display ?

When you go into System Preferences > Display > Airplay Display no devises detected even though I have both my Ipad and Denon on and connected.

Confused !!! seems everything is correct I have the box ticked for show mirroring options does that make any difference.

The airplay symbol still refuses to show in  Itunes or anywhere for that matter

For the show mirroring option in Displays you would probably need to have Apple TV but for music via wi-fi all you need is Airport Express or Airport Extreme. Frankly, I don't know if the Denon can substitute for Airport Express but if you don't have Airport Express that could be the problem.

Having the iPv6 set to Automically should be OK.

Hi again. Here is a link that may help, as you are using a BT router.

And here is a shot of one of the posts.

They seem to be saying its the router setting at WPA2K+. I've upgraded my firmware on Denon on a number of occasions even using cable as the link and not wifi. Also I still do'nt understand how my Ipad works and not Mac or do Ipads operate IP unicast?

Added to that my Denon wifi radio works along with connecting to the Ipad Airplay, it also works with my windows laptop on Itunes Airplay. So I guess the weak link is the Mac to the Router for potentially the reasons you have suggested. It seems strange that my router works perfectly well in every area, with Mac, other than Airplay. In particular it is noticeable that the Ipad does not recognise the Mac speakers in Airplay even though it connects with Denon.

Further to my post regarding wireless connection from Denon CEOL and router, turns out it was not a problem with the router afterall.  The CEOL was setup to only receive security signal at  WEP strength  otherwise it kept dropping out.  The router was set at WPA2K+ . Since there was a firmware upgrade on the denon, it can now continuously stream without interruption yet the security level on the router is still set at wpa2k + . Hope this helps anyone with wireless issues with the CEOL.

I have just synched my Ipad with the Mac using Itunes, as a backup over wireless. Guess what the Airplay has appeared with the Denon. Don't know why or how but finally after months it is talking to each other !!

    Thanks for your help Cunnia
