color coded capacity bar?

blue is for songs, purple for video, yellow for photos and orange for "other".
what is this "other"? i have 800 megs of it. i could use that space. how do i find it and delete it. doesn't show up in the volume on my desktop. doesn't show up anywhere as far as i can tell. itunes will not tell me how many items are in this "other" like it does with songs and videos. confused and a little hurt...

yes. i did look in the finder. found nothing unusual that would account for almost a gig of mystery data.
here's what i do know...
i used to be able to drag and drop mp4's from the desktop into the ipod icon in itunes. they would show up under movies just fine. but since today with the itunes 7 update, this no longer works. i dragged a new movie like i used to and it showed up nowhere. silly me, i tried again, thinking i missed something. this would account for the 800 megs i saw in "other" as the movie i was importing is a little under 400 megs. i can understand some extraneous data going in the "other" category. things like album art and such. but for apple to make it so obtuse as to how we manage that, and to not even let us see what's in there. it's frustrating. now what we have to do is copy mp4s directly to itunes and then move them to the ipod. i'm thinking this is to facilitate organization of the movies that are now available for download. still. seems like an oversight. i ended up wiping the whole ipod and starting over from scratch. nearly a gig of unusable space is precious on a 30 gig ipod. sorry for the long post.
