Is the 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 (PC3-12800) - 2x4GB compatible with my macbook pro 15 inch 2.2ghz (Late 2011)?

I want to order the 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 (PC3-12800) - 2x4GB ram but I have to make sure that it is compatible with my mac first.. It's a MacBook Pro 15 inch 2.2Ghz model (Late 2011).. so can someone please help and tell me if it's compatible with my mac or not?

What is the source of their RAM? As you well know Macs are very selective in regards to RAM, even when the specifications are 'spot on', but not from certain vendors.


I do appreciate what you are saying and in principle I agree, thus my suggestion to abanob.maccabi is to purchase the RAM from OWC if he chooses to opt for 1600 MHz RAM. OWC has an excellent reputation of customer support and standing behind the products that they sell. 🙂

I have a late 2011 MBP with 16 GB 1333 MHz RAM (Crucial) and I just don't think that a 2% difference is that important. But then there are 'speed demons' and the 'numbers obsessed' who do. But then it is not my place on these forums to impose my will or preferences on others. All I can do is tell what is or is not possible and in the end it is their decision, not mine.
