Is that the hidden spy camera on left side from original camera on iPad Air covered half with border paint? It's hard to spot, but under bright light you can see. It looks just like another hidden camera behind paint, what is that? It didn't looks like any of light detector, it just like another camera.

Are you holding your iPad in landscape ( sidewards) orientation ?
Vertical, so camera on top! and home button on bottom.
What ever. I'll keep keeping tape over, who knows, right. For some reason I saw other people I didn't know them at all, have tape too, over that thing, so, I'm not the only one who knew about it. :-)
