i bought a power bank today which is not an apple product i use it for charging my iphone 5s it took lot of time to reach the 50% then it stoopped charging does power bank damage the battery ?
and is there any apple product power bank that may be better thank this one ?

I don't have an answer for you but a question. Is the cord a micro usb? If so, did it plug into your iphone 5s cleanly?
There are dozens of power bank devices on the market. The one I use charges the phone quite fast. You need to check the specs. You need one that supplies at least 1 amp at 5 volts, more is better. None of them will damage the phone.
Some will show not support accessory error if the amp is too high
Some will show "not supported", but NOT because the "amp is too high". It's because the device does not provide the signal the iPhone requires to assure compatibility. There is no upper limit to the current a USB power source is allowed to provide. USB devices like iPhones only draw the amount of current they need.
