mail not viewing sent e-mails

mail not viewing sent e-mails

Hi,

I have an issue with mail, when I try to view my previously sent messages (sent box) I get a message saying that I need to go on-line to view the message, even though I am on-line, I can send & receive e-mail, I just cannot view my previously sent messages.

I am running mail 1.3.11 with a POP accounton panther.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Imac G5 PPC, Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions,

If you are running Mail 1.3.11, and 10.3.9, then your Sent mailbox is most likely Overstuffed -- see:

Ask any questions, or advice, needed. It may be critical to know how large the mbox file in the Package of the Sent Messages.mbox actually is, since some could be large enough to require a different methodology to resolve.

HI, SORRY ITS TAKEN ME A WHILE TO REPLY.

The mbox that has the problem is 2.37gb, does anyone have any advice on how to correct this, I would prefer to keep the emails if possible, maybe back them up and then clear the box some how.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

The size of this mailbox may be such that the no procedure, cleaning up files, and rebuilding may not work. If not, there is a script I can give you access to, that will split the mailbox in several more managible size mailboxes.
