How to repair bootcamp after messing up with partitions?

Hello there. I have a Macbook Pro Retina 15', I've created a new partition for the Yosemite but I didn't know it would mess up with my Boot Camp.

First I had this issue: (No bootable device --- insert boot disk and press any key) so I just used my bootable flash drive and try to repair the windows, of course its failed and starting showing up a new message error: "An error occurred while attempting to read the boot config data"

Then I follow the instructions on the first post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4144252?start=0&tstart=0

But the windows keeping showing the same error (An error occurred while attempting to read the boot config data).

I don't have Yosemite partition anymore, but I have a hole and can't resize it anymore:

When the disk was resized for Yosemite, DU paid no attention to Bootcamp.

Somewhere between block 482970192 and 555231232 is part of the data you may need. If the original partition had some additional "padding" for alignment, that information has now been hidden by this state.

There is a tool called Testdisk that can show you deleted partitions. Do you want to look at the tool? http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

Does Bootcamp partition show up as a mounted volume when MAC OS X is up and running? If yes, can you open the volume in Finder?

I tried to follow these steps:

  • bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
  • c:
  • cd boot
  • attrib bcd -s -h -r
  • ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
  • bootrec /RebuildBcd

But it's failed at the first one.

Translation:

The store export operation has failed.
The requested system device cannot be found.

I also tried only bootrec /RebuildBcd but got the same error.

There are options. If you do not have an external optical drive (DVD/CD), but if you have another MAC, you can use Firewire/Thunderbolt and Target Disk Mode to repair. The environment is different than in your referenced link.

Because of changes, System Volume Information may be out-of-sync with the GPT version external to Windows (prior to your repair actually fixing any issues).

Is your USB drive a bootable drive?
