Factory Reset Account Creation Loop

Hello,

Any help would be greatly appreciated on this situation.

I recently attempted to factory reset my Snow Leopard macbook with using the command + S method and

typing

mount -uw /

rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone

shutdown -h now

Everything seemed fine, but after creating the new account it simply repeats itself and goes back to the language selection screen.

So I am stuck on a loop. Is this a permissions problem or what?

Again, any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Try booting off the Snow Leopard DVD or Disk one that came with your computer (command - C on a restart or hold down the option key during a restart and select the DVD). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Erase the hard drive, formatting as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Then reinstall the OS.
