this problem is EXTREMELY hard to explain... but I need the help!

ok, so here's how it goes. i play notes in garageband. the computer scripts them into the piano roll/ sheet music score. the notes sound orrect when i play back. and everything seems normal, but whenever i shut off my garageband app, it somehow changes things. i go back and listen to what i just wrote, which says it is all the way i left it, but when the loop plays, the notes are all jumbled up and it sounds EXACTLY how i do not want it to sound. :/. for example, i will play sone a chords or b chords... but when the loop l=plays back, it sounds like i played the chords with random notes and not with what i did, but the piano roll or the sheet music score says that the notes it plays are a and b chords... what is the problem? how can i fix it? i ruined a whole album and a half worth of music and i need to fix it soon!

Which instrument are you using? For some instruments from the Jam Packs the velocity can change simple notes to chords, and also the mod wheel can do funny things to some instruments.

This sounds like you were using an arpeggiator effect, but arpeggiators are only available in the latest GarageBand version 10.0.x, and your signature is showing the older GarageBand '11. Is your profile signature current?

my profile is the latest version

Please check the version number in GarageBand. What does it say in the "GarageBand" menu > About GarageBand ? "The latest version" woud be GarageBand 10.0 and not GarageBand '11, as you wrote.

We really need to know the exact version number, because GarageBand 10.0 and GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5 are so very different.

i am jut using regular piano. no mods.

That really should sound exactly as you enter the notes.

As a test create a new, empty project with just a piano track and enter a few notes. Does the new project sound alright, when you play the song?

i tested it several times and it does the exact same thing. :/ for example, i play g and the note writes as a g, but instead the note says it is g, but the playback says it is an Ab.... or I play an A and it says it is an E or something like that. it confuses the notes. and it sounds like the correct notes when i write the music. the thing is when i close the app, the note sounds change somehow.

the version of garageband i am using is Garageband 10.0.02 so i have the latest software. it was working just fine till about last week. and it is interfering with my deadline! :c... i think the app itself has a HUGE bug. the notes are written in the thing as they are supposed to sound, but the notes dont sound like what they are written... :c i wish i could demonstrate. it would be a lot easier in person.

That rings a bell. I have seen a similar problem recently. There seem to be some samples wrong for the Grand Piano patch.

Send a bug-report to Apple: Use this form; Apple - GarageBand iLife - Feedback

List exactly the notes and the instrument that are sounding wrong.

As a work-around, use a different instrument for your current project. If I remember correctly, only the lowest register of the Grand Piano had this problem. Does the music play back correctly, when you use an organ or guitar patch?

The Steinway Grand Piano is what I am using. :O. not the regular Grand Piano. but I will send the report. and hopefully if i call Support tomorrow, I can fix this, cause I am tired of writing new music to have this bug wreck it all... lol

the music does the same when I use any patch, really. I tested those, too. It just seems like the notes in general are bugged around the lower registers... hmmm.... weird... it plays only my new songs all screwed up. I go back and replay my older stuff and it plays out fine. :/.

I have the exact same problem, same version of GB. It happens on playback and sounds very discordant. Did you get anywhere with a fix? I, too, have sent a bug report.

My experience of the problem is this: I record a piano section with no problems, then when I listen to it there are incorrect notes heard clashing with the bass in particular. (I am aware this sounds like the ramblings of a terrible pianist, but I assure you it is not!)
