Recently decided on blocking someone but I read that they still can't leave voicemails in your inbox so if I wanted to call or text them would I have to unblock them or would it still go through?
Also what happened when someone I block texts me? What happens to that message, since phone calls go straight to voicemail?

once you have blocked someone you can not call or text them and you can not receive any messages or calls from them either. you will have to unblock them to contact them.
Yes, you have only blocked seeing that they called or texted you. Blocking has nothing to do with outgoing calls or texts. The original answer to this question was incorrect.

You can still call or text a number even if you have added it to your blocked list. example, blocked number is in your recent calls history, dare you to tap it to see what happens.
When sending a new text message, it will find the blocked number or contact in the to: field as part of contacts search.
Youre going to have to do some better life scrubbing than "just blocking that number" if you never want to see it again.
Im not the person to describe how to totally get rid of the history of a number or contact you block... hopefully someone else can fill in the blanks or correct me where i stray.

Blocking someone has no effect on your ability to send messages. If it's an iMessage, you'll see the "Delivered" indicator below the message. If it's an SMS message, you won't have any indication that it has been delivered.

The point is that people are not given any indication that they are blocked. If they couldn't leave a voice mail, they might suspect they were blocked. There are situations in which this could be dangerous. The messages are, as I recall, put directly into your deleted folder. You don't have to listen to them.
My phone rings twice every time a blocked caller attempts to reach me. Unfortunately I get a lot of these and it is very disruptive. I really don’t want or care to know calls are being blocked. I would compromise with a text or email telling me what number is being blocked but the ringing has to go. How?
What really ***** is that the voicemail is left in a different place for blocked numbers which I didn’t know about so my voicemail was full forever and I had no idea!! I still forget about it. I blocked them!! I don’t want to have to track down their messages to delete them! I DON’T WANT THEM!! DUH!! Lol

How did you know a person you had blocked received your text? Bc everything I've read says any text sent will appear as sent in blue and vice-versa from the recipient? And both parties will not know of any text exchange.

Thank you - the forum and quroa go back and forth without a clear answer. But distinguishing the blue from the green is quite logical - it's just that nobody made that crystal clear. Thanks for your help.

Is it really that hard to find the Blocked Messages folder? It's one of only two folders.
