Is your question about resetting a password or about how to use a keyboard? You tell us nothing about which system version you are using, or which model MBP you have.

I don't know why you posted what you did, unless your keyboard is malfunctioning.  

Here's how to reset the password with

Apple Article to reset the password for 10.6.8 and earlier, and 10.7 and later.

If neither helps, we need more info.  Is your MacBook Pro a late 2011 or later model, or an earlier model?

If earlier, is it older than early 2010, or not?
