Jul 3, 2014 1:07 PM in response to AnD3rSby Lem3ssie,I'm not 100% sure those features are BT only, i think ( meaning i've read a bit about it ) wifi is on the loop for it to work. So older mac ( 2011 ) might also need a wifi upgrade. Only time will tell.

Jul 3, 2014 9:50 PM in response to luis276by smwoodward99,So what is the oldest MacBook model people have successfully replaced the airport card to get handoff working?

Jul 3, 2014 11:26 PM in response to smwoodward99by AnD3rS,In my opinion, this upgrade is only possible for the Early and Late 2011 models (15" and probably 13") as only these have the same Airport assembly as the Mid 2012 devices.
The previous models had different assemblies, e.g. the Mid 2010 (15") one had different screw holes and only three instead of four antenna connector. (Just take a look at ifixit.com).

Jul 4, 2014 10:47 AM in response to sandervknby MikeCWest,Thanks for you post. I have seen your post mentioned on other forums. It is a great post, but I think some are mislead by your photo of the card...
It shows BCM94331PCIEBT4AX on the card, which I can see by reading throughly that it must be the old card...
Do you happen to know the number on the FRONT of the new card... (My old one is 607-7191, and BCM94331PCIEBT4AX on back.) I followed the link in your post and search for the part number in the picture, and bought the card... It turned out to be the same as original. I don't know if your seller just used the wrong pic or what....
I think it may help others if you post the part number on the front of the card. I just ordered another one that reads 607-8959 on the front...and BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX on the back.

Jul 5, 2014 9:13 AM in response to MikeCWestby sandervkn,Those pictures that sellers use at there website can be different than the one you actually get.
The picture I used in my post is, like you mentioned, the old card. It says 607-7292 on the front and on the back BCM94331PCIEBT4AX.
The new card says BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX on the back. Tomorrow I will open my Macbook again to see what part number the new card says on the front.

Jul 7, 2014 11:22 AM in response to sandervknby AnD3rS,It seems like the upgrade wasn't worth it. No sign of Handoff in Yosemite DP 3.
No more Handoff/AirDrop display in System Profiler, option gone from System Preferences->General

Jul 7, 2014 12:20 PM in response to AnD3rSby Lem3ssie,I hope there is. Bluetooth system report doesn't mention Continuity or Handsoff anymore.

Jul 7, 2014 1:01 PM in response to AnD3rSby aCtiSyS,You can find AirDrop support status under System Report > Network > Wi-Fi
I'm still trying to find where is Continuity Support, therefore there is option in System Preference > General > to turn on Handoff

Jul 7, 2014 4:46 PM in response to aCtiSySby Ikuto,I don't have the option, but then again I haven't updated my chipset in my Mac yet.

Jul 8, 2014 4:10 PM in response to luis276by sandervkn,Installed DP3, installed iOS 8 on my iPad Air.. No option in de system preferences -> General.
And my iPad doesn't communicate with my Macbook... The Handoff feature isn't working.
Even when the controller is on in iOS, settings -> general -> Handoff is turned on. It doesn't seem to work.
I found even this quote: "Macs that don’t support handoff nolonger have the option in general settings."
(In the comments below) http://9to5mac.com/2014/07/07/apple-releases-os-x-10-10-yosemite-preview-3-to-de velopers/
I hope that is not true, because when it is true... the bluetooth update wasn't worth it!
I cannot test the continuity or handoff on my iPhone because I don't want to install a beta on my daily used device.
