Jun 17, 2014 1:26 PM in response to simzy2by ChrisJ4203,So let me see if I understand this correctly. You selectively copied photos from the iPhone to the computer, not all of them, and now you are trying to get the rest of them and they are gone? What were you doing with the phone that would have made these photos disappear? Why did you not import all of the photos to the computer at the same time. You should not try to save photos in the Camera Roll for extended periods, since it is not designed as a storage device. Did you do a backup of the device with all of the photos on it? Have you backed it up since that time? I'm also wondering why you have not done a backup, since that is your only failsafe for the phone, especially if photos are that important to you.

Jun 17, 2014 1:47 PM in response to ChrisJ4203by simzy2,A lot of I should haves. I had too many photos and while at work I opened up the 4 folders inside of the DCIM folder on my phone. I didn't think it would be a big deal to just cut the photos and paste on my computer as I have done this before. i moved one folder that had 803 pictures in it and all was fine. I ran out of time and unplugged phone and went home. When I got to work this morning I was looking at my phone and realized I only had 34 pictures. I knew there should have been 400+ there and they are gone. Don't know what happened and if they were deleted off phone or computer I cannot see them anywhere. I didn't back up (I know mistake) Lessoned learned I just hope there is something i can do!

Jun 17, 2014 1:55 PM in response to simzy2by ChrisJ4203,There isn't anything. You probably corrupted the file system when moving things around. The best way to import pictures from the phone to the computer is to do it via the import utilities on the computer. If you have a backup of the iPhone when the photos were on it, you could restore to that backup, however anything done on the phone since that backup would be lost.

Jun 17, 2014 2:24 PM in response to simzy2by ChrisJ4203,Unfortunately it is a sad lesson to learn, but that is the way it is. If you cannot use the option that I provided, then I'm sad to say you can only look at yourself for not backing up the phone or importing the photos correctly.

Jul 31, 2016 11:09 AM in response to Samantha1606by ChrisJ4203,It would depend on the operating system of your computer. All OS have an import utility for photos. I use Windows, and it has a photo import utility. When you connect the iphone and it has photos on it that have not been imported to the computer, the computer will notify you if you have your AutoRun set up for it. You will get the notification to import photos, and you just select the method. The import utility has settings in it to determine how you are going to import them, where you are going to import them, and what to do with them after you have imported them. You can also take a look at this support document, which explains it generically, or you can search for photo import in Help for your particular computer operating system. Jul 31, 2016 6:32 PM in response to Samantha1606by ChrisJ4203,What version of Windows are you using? Are you saying that Windows prompted you to enter a folder name? Did you enter one? What is sad, you don't indicate a problem?

Jul 31, 2016 6:45 PM in response to Samantha1606by ChrisJ4203,Okay, I'm not as familiar with all of the features of Window 10, since I don't use it yet. However, I would think you have the option to go into Control Panel and make adjustments to AutoRun and/or the Photo Import utility. I know that some changes have been made to how photos are handled in Windows 10, but I really recommend against opening the iPhone in Explorer and moving photos around that way. It is way to easy to experience issues and corrupt files. Also, once you have imported photos, I would make sure you check the photos on the computer before you ever attempt to delete them from the phone.
