Meaning of images on folders

My folder icons seem to go through change. I have several that have changed from plain folders to folder that include an image of three silouettes. Others have small white boxes in the lower left corner. I can't find an explanation anywhere. Can someone help? It seems to affect the ability of Dropbox to function.

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), SSD, i7, 16 megs ram

MacDropAny added these images.

You can't physically move the Documents folder so MDA is using the symlink to mirror the files. You can contact the author for help: http://www.zibity.com/macdropany-help.html

You should not be syncing your entire Documents folder. Some folders cannot be synced to DropBox like the Microsoft User Data folder for example.

I suggest you create your own "documents" folder in DropBox then save files to this location rather than the default Documents folder.

You can put an alias of the DropBox "documents" folder in Documents so you can easily see all files in one view.
